ASME BPVC Section VIII Division 1 — UG-27 shell/sphere & UG-32 formed heads

Minimum cylindrical-shell, spherical-shell, and formed-head (2:1 ellipsoidal / hemispherical / torispherical F&D) thickness under internal pressure per ASME Section VIII Division 1, plus MAWP back-solved from an installed corroded wall.

Applies the UG-27 circumferential-stress shell/sphere equation or the matching UG-32 formed-head equation directly for t (torispherical heads pick up the Appendix 1-4(d) stress-intensification factor M from the F&D crown/knuckle geometry), flags when the thin-wall region of validity is exceeded (t≤0.5R for cylinders, t≤0.356R for spheres), and rearranges each equation for P to back-solve MAWP at the corroded wall t_a=t_nom−CA.

Circumferential (hoop) stress governs the longitudinal seam; valid for t≤0.5·R (P≤0.385·S·E).
Spherical Shell / Hemispherical Head (UG-27(d) / UG-32(f))
Valid for t≤0.356·R (P≤0.665·S·E); R=D/2 for the hemispherical head.
Torispherical Head (UG-32(e), F&D)
F&D standard proportions: crown radius L=D, knuckle radius r=0.06·D (M≈1.7706); M factor per Appendix 1-4(d).
